I'm living in a village near Basingstoke with my wife and groovy son. I've
been playing my folk music for years, but finally got around to recording a CD
at the behest of friends. Originally my friend Tony and I formed a duo known as
"The Astoroth, Astoroth, Astoroth Hey! That's a great name for a band"
Band. Our material was mostly really offensive, and I will occasionally play a
song or two in the early hours, after being filled with beer.
I love playing camps and conferences, although I have not always been warmly
welcomed by all. I can recall the first gig I did at the PF National Conference
many moons ago. The faces in the front row dropped, and then turned to thunder
as I worked into my set. Very worrying. But some Heathens decided to sit at the
front as they drank and sang along, and the people at the bar seemed
entertained!
I've even been slagged off on a PF discussion board by people I have never met!
Odd that.
I guess I want my music to entertain, and maybe get people to think. I know I am
just one bloke with my own views, but I think that modern paganism has so much
to offer that it is a real shame when characters get in the way with their ego's
and the like. However, I am well aware that I have no "great truth"
for all to hear and thus change their ways. My own spirituality is constantly
evolving, I am, for example, currently really struggling! This gets reflected in
my songs as I get around to writing them.
And what next? Well, I fancy another year of gigs, as they are a great way to
get to events I wouldn't go to and meet people I wouldn't meet. I quite fancy
taking part in some of these online interview things, but I also think I need to
spend much less time online and start concentrating on my music! I want to put
some of my reactions to the non-pagan world to tunes, there are many things
afoot in the big wide world I want to shout about. I want to play my harp more,
and I want to write more and more silly songs about Paganism!
